Does anybody know what the NATO code name for a Nanchang CJ-6 is? I haven't been able to find one. I'm starting to think that there isn't one.

I'm not sure NATO had a codename for the CJ.

The Yak-18 was the "Max", but I too don't believe the CJ-6 had a codename.

The best place to ask that question would be on the Yak forum:

NATO names were primarily used for Soviet/Warsaw Pact manufactured aircraft. The CJ-6 has none.

The CJ-6 was a development of the CJ-5, which was the Chinese licenced built version of the Yakovlev Yak 18, NATO codename "Max".

Thanks SAR - that's about what we thought. Oh well, we've named it "Puff" now anyway. :D
