Hill AFB B-29

I was at Hill on Monday and wandered back to see the B-29 "Haggerty's Hag". It was sitting back beside the museum building away from the display area. She looks pretty rough. According to the Museum Website..."The B-29 is currently awaiting complete restoration before being placed inside the Hadley Gallery"
Anyone know when they have scheduled to start restoration?

I dont know anything about the restoration schedule but its great to hear another B-29 and hopefully other planes there at Hill are headed indoors!

i know someone who volunteers at the museum and he says that the ship is pretty corroded... i was there earlier this year and she is pretty bad off. it was raining off and on or i would have gotten some pics(didnt want to get my camera wet). she had been used to test chemicals so some werent very nice to the ole gal and has weakened her in some spots pretty good. ill see if i cant get a time frame from another volunteer out there.

I have been lucky enough to get inside the forward compartment with a museum staffer. Yes, it is very corroded - the top front turret is almost hanging there by the proverbial thread. You cannot use the tunnel at all as it would simply give way into the bomb bay area. As JBrawner said, it was used out at the Dugway proving grounds as a target for heaven only knows what chemicals (testing) before The Hill folks saved her. They have been able to restore much of the FE station but as for the rest of the cockpit, well, its going to need to some serious $$ and time.
