Yak 11 Restoration

Dear Mr Patterson,
could you please post on here some pictures of Bob Chinnery's wonderful Yak 11 restoration?
I know the machine is now with you in KC and as you know I was a big fan in of this machine when I saw it last year in Bob's workshop.

I'm sure the folks here on WIX would be interested to see the pictures.

Here's some from the other day. Today the ailerons were installed, as well as fitting the oil cooler. Progress is good, and hopefully we'll be ready for engine runs in a few weeks. Still plenty to do though, as each system is hooked up, brought on line, and checked over.

Good looking ship, it is good to see one that is going to fly in stock configuration as most of the recent restorations seem to be to a single seat layout of one sort or another...............or is it just me with a warped view.

The prop for the Yak is a cut down Ham Standard from a DC-3.

The MiG will be done when it's done...which means I have no idea. When they send me the last bill and tell me to come and get it, then I guess it will be done.

Here are some more photos of the Yak-11 project, taken today.

The flaps are now connected, as well as the ailerons. The oil cooler will probably be installed tomorrow.

These shots shows the exhaust ring and stack, which exit the bottom of the aircraft.

Hi Steve
this is really a good looking Yak! Who is suppling this nice placards for the two cockpits? What are the two instruments on the right panel below the pressure indicators?

I second Swiss Yaks

It is nice. Amazingly it appears there is a similarity to the T-6. Such as how they hold the outer fueslage skin to the steel frame. However, the Yak looks like everything is compacted closer together.

All the placards were made by Bob Chinnery. The two instruments below the pressure indicators are a dual indicator for cyl. head temp and carb temp, and the other one is an exhaust gas temperature gauge (EGT).
