We have McCampbells 38 and shoulder holster that was carried on his combat missions during WWII. A good friend, Neil C. from Lantana Fl. purchased David's home on the intercoastal waterway before McCampbell went into a retirement home. When Neil purchased the home, McCampbell gave him the gun and holster along with a noterized letter about the gun. Colt Arms also provided documentation on the s/n and the Navy when it was issued to McCampbell.

Sweat stains and McCampbells written name are on the holster along with the revolver.

Eventually Neil wants to sell the holster and gun and put the money towards his grand daughters schooling.

Hopefully it will not go overseas.[/img]

Are you sure the revolver was a Colt???

I am familar with S&W .38 "Victory" revolvers issued to
Naval Aviators during WWII. It was a parkerized Model
10 with plain wood grips. My Dad carried one.

I am sure no one would argue with CAG McCampbell if
he wanted to carry a Colt but I'd like to know a bit more
about it.

Why wouldn't it be ? Many Colt New Service .38s were carried. Not everyone had nor wanted a Model 1911.

Yes I'm positive it's Colt, if I new how to post pictures I would. The letter from Colt confirms the tracability of the gun along with the letter from McCampbell.

Does anyone know who the young fellow is on the wing root??
