Greetings,

EAA AirVenture Oshkosh is a little over a month away, and it's time to start planning the 2nd Annual WIX Gathering/Baughman cookout. Last year we had the cookout on the Friday of convention, which seemed to work out very well. My only reservation about having it on Friday this year is that the evening program for Theater in the Woods that night is a panel discussion with Gunther Rall, Shorty Rankin, Bud Anderson, Tex Hill, and Robin Olds at 7:30pm. I don't know about you all, but I for one would like to see them talk.

So, is there another day besides Friday that would work for most of you? IF not, then Jenn (my wife and the primary cook of the evening's shindig) and I are willing to have the cookout on Friday (July 27th), from 5pm to whenever everybody leaves, but I personally would probably cut out at 7pm to run over to the Theater in the Woods to catch the aces' panel.

Another thought is that we could all have dinner at my place (located just to the south of the museum right at the corner of Poberezny and Waukau) and then head over to the Theater in the Woods as a group.

Any other thoughts? I really enjoyed meeting everyone that came last year and would love to do it again this year if we can make it work.

Zack

That sounds really great. Unfortunately, I will be part of a 3 or 4 man crew. We will be arriving after the Selfridge AFb show, so midweek would be great. Would it be possible for me to cover the extra expense of my crew?

We are staying north of OSH. On lake Winnebago. It is a remote possibility that Col. Halvorsen may join as well, depending on his schedule.

IS that a possibility?

Thanks!

Kevin.

Hi Zack,

I'm good for chairs again.

I'm good for extra bevs.

Tell Jenn I can even help out with food.

But I absolutely, positively cannot do Tuesday. Any other weekday is good.

I didn't make it last year, but I'm definately in for this year. I think any day towards the end of the week would be good. I'm partial to Friday, but I can make it probably any day. Zach, how close is your place to the SOS brothers parking lot that is right to the south of the museum?

Maybe 100-150 yards to the west of the SOS bros. parking area. The address is 1919 W. Waukau Ave, and the house sits right at the south side of the junction of Poberezny Road and Waukau Ave. Waukau is the street that you come up to park at the SOS brothers or to park in the EAA parking lots. I'll plan on posting a yard sign the morning of the cookout with something along the lines of "WELCOME WIXERS."

Hello Zack,

May I throw out a humble suggestion? What about having the get together on Thursday night? That way it won't interfere with the Friday evening program, AND, since Gary Austin will only be at the show on Thursday, we could try to twist his arm into attending that night and we could all raise our glass in a toast to him. I am sure he will be very busy down on the flight line that day, so it might give us all a little more one on one time with him, as we express our gratitude for his perseverence with 'Ol 927.

Just a thought... and of course it depends on Gary's schedule too.

Hope to see you all there,

Steve ;)

Excellent, I'll be there. I know exactly where your house is. Looking forward to meeting everyone.

I plan on taking the family on Friday but doubt I'll be able to attend the get together. By the end of the day the wife and kids are hot, tired, and cranky!
