Pick your dream B-17.
Any version, Any color. You decide.
I would do a B-17G painted up as "A Bit O Lace"
I'm surprised, for a famous B-17, no group has tried to replicate it.
Plus I would want to fly formation with Fuddy Duddy.

Well, a B-17E in the three tone RAF scheme with USAAC markings in as a Midway bird with electric bendix bottom turret. Was that detailed enough?

You didnt say if the specfic B-17 would be a Combat veteran or not! Or if it would be glossy or flat paintjob!

Imagine trying to weather the paint scheme for a correct replica of "A Bit O Lace"! Those O.D. outer wing panels would be fun to duplicate.

Something from the 15th AF...no one is flying one like it...and to stay along with Mudge the Plain's idea of pretty...
2nd BG the first to fly B-17's!
Of course being a young Monogram fan in the 1970's would lead me to "little Miss Mischief"
Half paint and half metal for both Mudge and Warbird Kid..

Honestly If I had a B-17 (What a thought )

The Color would really not matter. Only that it Flew and got everybody's attention when it showed up or flew over.

At first I would say the cassic answer of "Memphis Belle" (Accurate or not, the movie rocked!) But I was watching the History Channels' "Dogfights" and the story of the B-17E "Ole 666" from the Pacific was absolutely amazing. All alone over New Guinea facing 17 or so Zeroes, and making it out alive!!!

I agree Ole 666 Now that would make for a great War movie on that mission alone

maybe get Tommy Lee Jones to play the Pilot and maybe George Cloonie . To bad the Duke is gone that role would of been made for him! The History Channel has really done a awsome job on the Dog Fights If you have never seen it do so.
