The EAA B17, along with some suport warbirds like my Spitfire were here for the Wings of Rockies museum. The weather for two days has been great, but the attendance not up to the big crowds they had last year. Think they had some glitches in the publicity and details, like maps to the FBO which is way around the se side. Tom and Sharon Poberezny were here. The highlight was a dance where one of the vets was a Doolittle Raider, and the other vets stood to applaud him. Joe Thibadeux in P-51 and I did a formation fly by, wish the 17 was up. I am waiting to fly out, got delayed when a local storm brought winds gusting to 34 knots.

good to meet you Bill.

I got some photos of the formation - just!

1st pass I had a too-long lens on. 2nd pass switched to the shorter and you were further away

I'll post the links when I finally stop shooting.

Bill-

I wish I would have known you were at the airport! I was at a soccer tournament no less than a mile from the airport, watched the B-17 land when we first got there. Perhaps another time!

After taxiing around and waiting around Sat eve, I finally gave up when the high winds moved out of APA and up by Boulder. So I caught a ride back to the motel and enjoyed a dinner chat with some of the B-17 crew. This morning it was good vfr, there was one warning of severe turbulence over Boulder, so when I took off about 8:45 am I flew east and all the way around the Denver class B space to get to Loveland. Had no turbulence, and made a pretty good landing, so the plane is there for an oil change and general 35 hour check to prepare to go to Oshkosh and maybe Geneseo.

A new record high temperature for this date was established in Denver today of 97*. I am real glad I went early and had the plane parked before 10 am. I hope the rest of the B-17 flight went well. They head back to Osh in the morning.
