I have given myself a deadline of roughly three weeks to complete my written test. Don't ask why I have put it off so long, other than I am a bit terrified of it... () but I want to get it taken and done with, and preferably I'd like to do really well.

Many of you on here have (of course) taken it and I thought you might have some suggestions. I have the book and study guide and I also have the Gleim test prep software.

Is there an ideal way to go about studying for it? Do you cram for a weekend and then take the test Monday, or do you methodically pour over it every night and then attempt the test? Is the book better v. the software? Just looking for any friendly advice you guys might have.

Thanks for once again letting me pick your brains! School starts on the 17th of September, I can't freaking wait!

Stephanie

When I was in flight school, I remember that some of the guys had some trouble with the software. I used the book, doing a few chapters every night, and then the last two days doing pretend tests.

Hello Stephanie, To me the Gleim software is the only way to go. I have used it on my last few test with great results. Just keep taking the practice test and you will do good. I took my ATP written in 20 minutes and made a 90. Don't sweat the hard questions just remember the easy ones

Good luck,

Lynn

Better than the Gleim stuff, you think?

If you cover all the material and do the practice tests it is not hard to make an A. I missed one lousy question on airport lighting. I would study hard now, but on the night before the test make sure to get good sleep. Passing is 70, of course that means that means as a pilot there is one third of the stuff that you don't know. It's not a dsiaster if you don't pass, you can come back and take it again. You need to be clear headed and read the questions exactly and carefully. Don't leave any blank.

Hi Steph,

I used the red book.
Hi-lite the right answer and don't read the wrong answers, this way when you take the test the right answer will jump out at you.

Good Luck,Phil

Study a little everyday, focusing on one subject, ie Factors of Flight, meteorology (toughest for me, don't know why,) Instruments, Rules and Regs. from the FAR-AIM focussing on just the relevant parts for your SEL rating? , Cross- Country, and practical Airport Ops. stuff.
Then the last 3-4 days take the computerized test over and over again and focus on the sections you get wrong.

I went to a computerized testing center that had a Flight calculator built in the testing software. (almost felt like cheating :D )

And don't stress, because you will pass.
