Hello all,
Budd Davisson has just put up a link on airbum.com to a podcast about his first Bearcat flight at Junior Burchinal's place in the 70's.
This is good stuff. Budd's flight was a result of having to abort a Corsair flight. Junior put him in the Bearcat without Budd so much as even reading or sitting down and talking about it. Budd points out that Grumman had done such a great job in design, that any competent tailwheel pilot with a head on his shoulders could fly it. Of course they had to. Most naval cadets probably had about 200 hours total when they strapped a fighter on.
