Hello All,
As some of you know, I run EAA's "Timeless Voices of Aviation" video oral history program. During AirVenture (July 23-July 29) I have a booth/tent set up in the Warbirds area, almost directly across the road from the "Warbirds in Review" hardstand. This is where I schedule people for interviews throughout the week of convention. I have two to three recording "studios" set up on the grounds and try to get as many interviews as possible during the week.
I am a bit short on volunteers this year, and am looking for some extra help staffing the booth, and possibly also conducting some of the interviews.
Volunteers in the booth help to answer questions about the program and schedule/sign people up for interviews. It's a pretty easy job and in a great location to watch the "Warbirds in Review" sessions every day and see various warbirds start up and taxi out right near the booth.
Volunteer interviewers get to meet and talk to WWII vets, air show pilots, and many others. I have a standard list of questions to ask and there is no prior experience necessary.
Volunteers get free lunch (it's just a simple box lunch, but again, it's free!) and a daily pass to the show if you put in four hours or more during the day. I generally break the day into two 4-hour shifts, running from 8am to noon and 1pm to 5pm with a 1-hour break at noon for lunch.
If you are interested in volunteering, please shoot me an email at
zbaughman@eaa.org with the day(s) and time(s) you are interested in helping out.
Even if you don't have time to volunteer, feel free to stop by the booth and say hello.
Zack
