Hawker Hunter questions

Thu May 17, 2007 9:35 am

Hello everyone,

Does anyone know any more information about the Hawker Hunter that is advertised on the Courtesy Aircraft site?

The site says it last flew in 1992. Does anyone know why it hasn't flown since then? Aside from $$$$?

Any information would be helpful.

Thanks.

Chris

That would be the ex-Spencer Flack and later Mike Carlton G-HUNT.
Rumour has it that it's got quite bad corrosion in the wing structure, which is probably why it's not flown for a number of years.

I still have vivid memories of it being superbly demo'd by the late, great Stefan Kawowski at UK display's about 25 years ago...... :(

Is that the red one that is on display at the EAA Museum?

It's a red Hunter, but last time I saw it, it was parked over by the Weeks Hangar, and not in the Museum.

They do have the front end of another red Hunter in the kid's area of the museum, though.

Bad wing corrosion? Hmm. That must be why it's relatively inexpensive. Would it be worth trying to fix?

For a non-airworthy Hunter it's very expensive.....

If your pockets are deep enough.....but given the amount of Hunters around probably not......but I'm not a Hunter expert.

Probably best ask over on the FP forum, as there's a number of knowledgeable Hunter people that post on there.

Or better still contact either of these Hunter specific organisations in the UK and ask..... :?:
