I am at Baton Rouge, waiting out the weather to go to LoneStar. The Avitat fbo is excellent, very friendly and good facilites. I,m staying at a very nice Hilton Garden Inn almost across the road. Anyone coming through should use this FBO. The Hanson FW 190 is in a hanger nearby.

Stop over at KMSY and I'll give you the airfield tour ;) Isn't there a P-51 around there somewhere? I remember it from when I was a kid.

At Baton Rouge there still is, as far as I know, a P-51 belonging to Don Weber. I don't know what Don is doing with the airplane, but last I heard it had not flown in a long time.

Bill Would you care to write a trip report? Some items of interest to me would be your route , times between stops, fuel and oil used, IFR or VFR, how high you flew and lastly does that airplane of yours have a heater? Thanks Carl

Yes the Don Webber P-51 is here on the ramp in front of Avitat, with a fitted cover over most of it. I'm told it fl;ew a few years ago and developed a problem, don't know any more. There is also a T-28 someone semed to be working on a bit yesterday out on the ramp, he may own it also. It did not occur to me that folks would be interested in mundane details of the trip, I was busy and did not keep good notes, let me see what I can come up with when I have time. My average speed the last two days is 0! Just went down to the waterfront museum where they have the destroyer Kidd and a P-40 and A-7 hanging. It was closing time, but the ship looks very well equipped and detailed.

Is that '190 formerly Don Weber's? ISTR many, many years ago, he was supposed to be making a homebuilt one, IIRC, using P-51 wings as a start.

Bill, if you are still down there, Barksdale AFB has a museum that is open to the public.
