New Zealand Air Show Good, but "needs to change"
In last week's Fast Facts, we told people that wanted to see a show on Easter to fly to New Zealand. It appears that the Classic Fighters Marlborough 2007 air show was a success in the eyes of the 25,000 spectators, but the event organizer told his organizing committee that the air show would "need to change drastically in future years."
The way forward according to Allan Baker, "It has to go to far fewer people paying a lot more. Otherwise, it's just not sustainable as an old-fashioned air show." Mr. Baker argued that the cost of staging a show with over 60 vintage aircraft "is not commensurate with the 30.00 price of a ticket. You wouldn't get into a six-hour rock concert for that amount of money," he added. NOTE: $30 New Zealand dollars are worth about $22.00 US
