Hi there... I was wondering if anyone out there knew the official designation for the Bendix ventral turret used in the B-25C was. I am writing an article at the moment, and need the information pretty quickly. Can anyone help? John Peters? I have scanned the internet for the last couple of hours, and not come up with anything conclusive. Many thanks for your help!

Cheers,
Richard

Sorry Richard...I'm afraid I can't help you out on this one. I'm just not that familiar with those early B-25 turrets. Anybody else out there have any info???

John

If memory serves the "C" saw the installation of the Bendix A-9 turrets. Whether or not this is true I'd been told that the very early turrets were a combination op system which had an electric motor feeding a small self-contained hydraulic system (like B-24 tail turret). All the later stuff I am familiar with in the B-25 is the amplidyne (electric motor generator system) powered.

I have a reference in a Bendix turret booklet that says "...early turrets discontinued and changed to Bendix Amplidyne type for NAA B-25C No. 41-12817 forward."

Not much to go on but it hopefully points you in the right direction....
