I think 'Yes' to the first question..and the PB4Y is the one in Lk. Washington. Someone else may no different .....

Are you sure about the PBY etc shot- I am not doubting it's just I once saw a shot of a Mavis flying boat that looked like this. The nose looks more like that profile in the plan drawing I am looking at. I would love to be correct as I think it would be signifigant if it was ??

Any thoughts?

Definately a PB4Y. The photos and 3-views I can find of the Mavis show a wider fuselage, staggered blisters, no trailing edge sweep in the inboard sections, and no fuselage visable above the wing due to the parasol type mounting. It would be nice to discover something like that so intact, though.

Thanks for that I was just being optimistic .

Thhere is an intact sunken Mavis in PNG but it would be a huge ask to raise that one - it is well documented in various books and web sites.

Still the PB4Y is exciting enough.

Hi yes this is the PB4Y2 in Lake Washington note the torn off in board engines this happened after it landed on the lake and floated for awhile, they hooked a cable to the inboard props and attempted to tow it to the seaplane beaching area but as it filled with water and begain to sink it ripped the engines off and it sank,.I have some under water video of it but its very dark down there!! its very complete down to their ox masks and chutes still hanging up inside. its sitting on its landing gear,cause of crash fuel starvation!!
