Jump into History with the WWII Airborne Demonstration Team!
Saturday, January 27th will be a day to jump back into the 1940's in
Frederick! The WWII Airborne Demonstration Team will be having Open
Hanger Day, while the Frederick Arts and Humanities Council will present
a "USO Variety Show" that evening at the historical Ramona Theater.
The Historic Frederick Air Field Hanger will be open to
the public from 8am until 5pm. This hanger was built in 1942, and is
the headquarters of the WWII Airborne Demonstration Team
(
www.wwiiadt.org). The hanger is being restored by the Team, as well as
serving as the base for their Jump School, which will graduate several
jumpers that weekend. A demonstration jump is planned, along with the
Wing Pinning Ceremony (both weather permitting). There will be several
military displays presented by the WWII Airborne Demonstration Team, and
the Killroys Boys W.W.II & 40's Performance History Group from
Dallas,Texas. Displays and activities will include: jump videos,
parachute packing, presentation of different paratrooper uniforms and
equipment, weapons displays and demonstrations.
In addition, noted authors Mark Bando and Jack Mc Niece will be on hand
to sign their books. The Hanger Open House will be at the Frederick
Municipal
Airport southeast of Frederick, OK.
Later on that evening, The Frederick Arts and Humanities Council in
conjunction with the WWII Airborne Demonstration Team are presenting a
concert at the Historic Ramona Theater in downtown Frederick.
At 7pm, a USO Variety Show will be presented
in the Ramona. The performance will be given by Brett Goertemoeller, Dr.
Tim Synder,
the Killroys Boys W.W.II & 40's Performance History Group from
Dallas,Texas, and other local talent.
This event is a fund-raiser for the needed
improvements to the Ramona Theaters lighting system. Tickets for the
show only are
$5.00.
