I know there's one in Chicago, I know there's one or two in the UK...anywhere else?

With some of the reproduced aircraft being made these days, whaddya suppose the chances are that someone'll look into making a few Ju-87's?

There is a 7/8s replica in the Augusta, Me area. I think it came from down South originally.

I remember seeing one hanging from the ceiling of the aerospace museum in San Diego when I was a teenager back in the mid 80's. I was told this was a repro as well.

The Chicago Museum of Science and Industry has a Ju 87 R-2/Trop, according to one site I found. It was captured in Libya 1941 and subsequently sent to the US. It's displayed with a BOB veteran Spitfire.

As for the Stuka replica, perhaps 4 or 5 years ago I was on my way to Sun-N-Fun and stopped along the way. This may have been in Mississippi or Louisiana, I can't be sure. There in a hanger was a 3/4 or 7/8 homebuilt Stuka for sale. Quality looked pretty good, not Grand Champion, but well above average and to my untrained eye pretty authentic. If that is the one, it would be great to see it at shows. I've got a few He-11 victories and I'd like to add a JU-87.

Here are a couple of shots of the Stuka in Chicago, taken in November of '05. Unfortunately, it's hanging from the ceiling, poorly lit, and almost impossible to get decent pics of. The poor thing is also covered with a thck layer of dust. I'd love to see it go to someplace like Dayton or the NASM where it would get a bit of TLC. I once heard a rumor that the museum was willing to part with it, for a cool six million!

The plane looks rather beat up, and I used to think it should be restored...until I learned that it's 100% original, including the paint! (although it appears to have acquired a set of T-6 wheels at some point) Just makes it all the more sad to see it stuffed up in a dark corner like that.

Strange that they've got it displayed as if it's "bouncing" the Spit...99% off the time in real life it was the other way around!

I think that Spitfire is very rare and authentic also, perhaps even a MKI. I'm going to make an effort to see them this summer. Not counting the dust, I am glad they are not "modern restored". We've got a lot of other Warbirds with shiny paint.

The Stuke in Chicago is original. It was damaged a number of years ago while being lowered for cleaning and was repaired by the EAA, which is when it prob got the T-6 feet. The engine was removed due to weight, but I believe the museum still has it in storage.
