I got a call last night from the curator at the Evergreen Air Museum.
Someone was moving the B-25 to get ready for a event and hit a cart full of table! Then then parked the a/c and left. No one knows who did it or exactly when and the curator wasn't informed until yesterday! What a coward for running off instead of stepping up like a man and accepting responsibility! The damaged skin on the inboard aft on the right nacele can't be replaced without major work so it'll have to be patched
I wish I had a big hanger!

OMG! I cannot believe it! I JUST got off the phone with a friend -- we were conversing about people who screw up & then won't accept the responsiblity for it! PERFECT!

I'm so sorry, Jack, to read about this!!!!

Jack, sorry to hear about this, I would not think there would be very many guys who are allowed to operate the tug, I bet you find out who did it soon. I remember back when we had just bought our AC-47 did not even have it painted yet, had not been in our hanger for a week and one of our Volunteers came out by himself and misjudged the hanger door and crunched the Right wingtip, Luckly it did not get into the aileron, I will say this for him he let us know right away and paid for the repair. That's called be a man.
Good Luck finding this person and I hope that they will at least pay for the patch for you.

Obviously I don’t know all the facts, but is it possible that the guy driving the tug didn’t know what he did?

I only bring this up because I was having a discussion about ramp rash recently, and the importance of doing a walk around even if being parked for only a short time.

Either way, I’m sorry to see this!

Sorry for ya Jack

but to my untrained eye it looks like it could have been worse.

I remember years ago when "Tinker Bell" got skewered in the tail feathers by a forklift in Kentucky. Ouch

I imagine having to remove the cart full of table from between the nacele and the fuselage clued them in on the problem :?
This is something that never should have happened. What I find especially annoying is the question of who many people where involved in moving it?
My guess is just the jerk moving it. Backing the B-25 (or any nose geared a/c) using the towbar is not easy.
The damage is in a area when you can't easily replace it so you have to patch it (sorta like a smile with a missing tooth).
But, my 2 big issues are not enought people involved when there are so many there in the building. If there's no one to help then don't move it. Secondly not coming flrward and accepting responsibility.

I once had a mishap in a Piper Warrior during flight training. I had to go and live up to mymistake. The walk from the flightline to the main hangar seemed like it was miles. When I told the owner of the aircraft, he said "How bad is it?" I said that it was not bad, but I felt that I should tell him. And that was the end of it. I feel your pain. That is a beauty of a b-25.

You don't have a list of people approved to move it ?

Sorry to hear that, Jack. I'm pretty sure you'll find the culprit. Can't be THAT many people who've used the tug.
I gotta' agree with Wrench...I'd do a flush repair instead of a patch. Find yourself a GOOD aluminum welder. I used to work for a guy that could make damage like that practically invisible.

Mudge the empathetic :(

ps..You know me. I'm not afraid to "axe" questions. What's a "cart full of table"? :?
