That's interesting, as I'd heard that the one presently in South Africa was due to come back to the US!

I wonder if their paths will cross in mid-Atlantic on their respective ferry flights?

Sorry, guess I should have posted the info. Dad told me this 2 weeks ago. Aparently its some dive expedition company that bought it. Dad said that its a shame, that it sounds like there gonna dive from it. Dad thinks that the airplane will be destroyed before too long. Too bad they could not find a more water friendly airplane like a Albatross to work from.

I remember seeing that PBY at Ft. Lauderdale when I went to visit my sister who lives down there. It was the first PBY I ever saw in person.

In this picture it is evident that Charlie was to low in his attempt at the flour bombing competition at our community flyin. I think he was disqualified

I'll really miss this aircraft. I was lucky enough to get about a 45 minute ride in it last year. It was my first warbird ride! :D

What a shame, se is a real beauty. I saw it at Thunder Over Michigain 2 years ago, and it was really sharp.

I wish it could stay in the States.
It's the only PBY I've ever flown from the left seat!

Not sure if N287 is to be used in the proposed Earhart search but, a couple of years ago, there were plans to do this with the Catalina currently at Greybull, Wyoming. The latter is N206M, former San Diego built RCAF Canso A s/n 9750 and, in between, CF-DIL, C-FDIL, EC-313, EC-FRG and N314CF (c/n 427).

David,
N206M is now up for sale, The owner (Mike Kammerer) passed away this last May. The ship was real close to completion. Engines have been run and is ready to licenes as a 28-5ACF (Standard Category) and needs about 4-5 weeks of work to completely finish. "New" every thing. Pass it along ! Detailed repair Station records on the entire project.
