i mean i know there are a few cargo 747s, but why would they use the same 747 twice a day for a week when there is a perfectly useful base of C-5s just down the road.....and other C-17s and C-5s that come in all the time....im sure there is plenty in the Cargo Command that could take those tanks.
If you knew the mission capable rate of the C-5s you'd have your answer. The C-17s are too busy doing other things. There's a surge on.

Saw an orange L-19 Bird Dog on the ramp at Findlay, Ohio while driving through. Anyone know any more about it?

While riding bikes on the seawall in Galveston saw Thunderbird and a biplane (possibly Stearman from LSFM).

Saw a pretty decent looking Super Dak at Denton Muni the last two days while manhandling and directing planes during the CAP Exercise this weekend. They even ran it on Saturday afternoon around 6pm. Never got over to get a tail number or anything, but it looked to be painted as an R4D-8.

Not to well versed on amphibs but about 1600 yesterday in area of KUES, saw a stubby, high wing, radial engined amphib headed SE. Red, white & blue. Wheels visible tucked neatly into the fuselage side.

Sure you guys will know.
