That reminds me. Here are some parts that I'm looking for if anyone has a source. I don't need perfect parts.

-stainless steel T-6 Texan canopy tracks
-control yoke and pedestal from something "big like a DC-4, Dc-7 Convair 240 etc.. This will be converted to steering later. The original T28 stick won't work.
-T- 28 horizontal surfaces- I have none at all.
-non airworthy rear half of a Hamilton Standard three blade prop hub and spider (DC-3, B-25, B-17 etc.)
-I need for the most part all of the instruments that would have been in the front instrument panel of the T28A.
-I also would like to set up period correct WWII radio equipment, much like an Avenger would have had.
-Avenger throttle quadrant. The T28A quadrant just looks a bit to jet age.

I had the great and distinct pleasure a few days ago, of spending several hours hangar-talking -literally- with Jason.

His truck lives up to his name and reputation, and left its mark on the concrete outside my hangar. Given the poor nature of the floor as it is, the oil actually "gives it character" as it were :drink3:

Saludos Jason, I enjoyed our extended conversation. I trust your arm is getting better.

Merry Xmas for all of y'all.

Tulio

Here is a bit of an update if you can call it that. Progress on this project came to a halt years ago, and the T28 was left stranded on my trailer. Since I had no facility where I could work on the project, I just let it sit there. About 1-1/2 years ago, I started leasing a large hangar from some friends. This hangar is about 4ft away from the old falling down hangar I had been keeping the T28 in for several years. The property owners finally agreed to let me renovate the place and start using the big hangar. So, I spend nearly seven days a week working on the property in Alvin, TX, and at the same time hauling in junk aircraft to make more art. I finally grew tired of the T28 resting on my trailer and spent a few days working on it. I built a crude giant dolly to move the fuselage around, and makes the plane appear to be a tail dragger now. I suspended the T28 from the roof of the hangar, slid the dolly under it and bolted it to the mounts that once held the wings on. I spent a few days stripping most of the paint of the fuselage. Having it off the trailer, helped me to visualize what it will take to convert this mess into a car. I now have all the materials I need to do so other than the steel to build the automotive framework inside the fuselage. So, hopefully in the next few months, this thing will have an automotive suspension in it.

If anyone has a lead on the top three cowling sections of a T28-A, I need them for this project. They can be corroded and non airworthy. I plan on butchering them to modify the cowling on this T28.

Hey Jason, Happy New Year 2016 and 2017! Been wondering what was going on with that T-28.

How about this? It's on Forgotten Field's site:

It's item #2507 in the "UFO" section, but I got it IDed as a unit from a Northrop YC-125. And I don't think any of the surviving Raiders needs one, so...?

Chris, thanks for that link. They have some neat stuff. However, I've solved the steering issue with my project and decided it was best to fabricate the entire system.

I doubt it will be ready anytime soon for the art car parade. I'll post photos of it as soon as I can.

Well, there's always next year for the Art Cars, God willin' and the next hurricane don't blow us away! Looked like the T-28 Car had been naughty with its nose shoved into the corner of the shop.....Saw you on Texas Country Reporter last Saturday. :D Unfortunately, I only caught the last few minutes of your spot since my nose was stuffed into the laptop looking up stuff I had seen on Daytripper an hour or so earlier that afternoon. Host Chet Garner and the crew toured Mid-America Flight Museum up in Mt. Pleasant, Tx. which was a great surprise, but that tweren't whut had me back at the computer. Chet also went a few towns over to Pittsburg to sample the famous Pittsburg Hot Links. That sent me into a protein flashbback, it's been 15 years...Gawd I love those greasy little links of JOY. 5-dozen of the lovely little grease bombs cooked and dry-iced shipped UPS $95 to Houston...that's why I missed most of yer spot. And TCP doesn't always air repeats the next morning. Maybe their youtube corner will have it. Till next time..
