Warbird Information Exchange

Sorry to be so late responding on the july 02 posting of the two miscreants who are perched on top of the forward fuselage and scuffing up the polished skin, that photo isn't from the Renton/Seattle area. That topography is more middle American Plains or at least East of the Mountains in Washington and I don't think there were any B-29 units in Eastern Washington.

I'm fairly sure that picture was taken at the Bell plant. Omaha and Wichita don't have any hills anything like those around their plants. None of the training stations would have had that big building in the background, either. Thanks for confirming the picture wasn't taken at Renton.

The hill behind Rentons East side was used by PACCAR during the war as part of their test track for armored vehicles, out the gate, cross Sunset Way, up the hill (steep!!) then South along what's now mostly the right of way location of I-405 to Benson Highway, then back around the East side of Renton and to the parking area inside the plant fence. GOOGLE EARTH for Renton, WA. and see where it went.
