1. What's the connection to "F-86F #24950/FU-950 of the 1953-55 435th FBS era at George AFB, CA". Is this a squadron your father had ties to? Just curious. I think it's a stunning choice.

2. Where will you be putting the WIX Tramp stamp? lol

Btw I have a large collection of detailed walk-around interior/exterior photos of F-86 Sabres rolled out of production.

No personal connection with 24950, just have good period pics. Plus the extra fuselage bands are cool and usually denote a commanders jet. Will continue to research.

The crated aircraft are 20 F-86Fs that were overhauled at Palmdale and passed to the Royal Thai AF in the fall of 1961.

Well this one has bothered me for a while:



It has a 435th FBS badge on the gun door. Fine so far. But it's trimmed red, which isn't the correct colour for a 435th FBS aircraft.

And it has James Jabara's name on the canopy rail, though he never served with the unit while it had F-86s.

I know it's the owner's choice to do what they want with their property, but this one jars every time I see a photo of it!

The inaccurate USAF markings bother you, but the fact that it is a Canadair F-86 with U.S. markings doesn't?...

Kidding of course Paul, I enjoy seeing it in person and when you fly over the house no matter what markings she wears!

To some of us accurate markings are more important that the type of aircraft those accurate markings are on.

The markings on the XP-80 at NASM are "correctly incorrect". According to Mikesh's Restoring Museum Aircraft book, the star and bar was applied to the airplane incorrectly originally, so when it was restored it was reproduced with the original inaccuracy.

In another case of being restored "correctly incorrect", the Westland Lysander III at the Royal Air Force Museum, R9125, has had one of it's cowl flaps installed upside down...
