kind of looking like it, Thunder isn't listed on Doc's page and it doesn't seem to be making many stops for 2018 either

Don't know.

I don't list the aircraft on the website.

Perhaps Mike Luther can weigh in on these three missing aircraft.

Hopefully, it's just an oversight.

Cheers,

Tom Walsh.

Looks like it shaping up to be a great show, hopefully Doc will be there [and some jets].

This just popped into my head while reading comments about rare aircraft it would be nice to see - Are there any Fairey Swordfish's still flying ?

Last I saw one of those, must have been 10/15 years ago in Windsor. Always liked that plane, kind of a transition aircraft from WW1 era to WW2. Thing is deceptively large and powerful for a single engine bi wing prop, and of course her finest hour and by far biggest claim to fame was crippling the Bismark with a miracle hail Mary bomb run.
Can't imagine there are many of those left, flying or not.

edit: According to wiki, there are 12 known examples of this aircraft left.
1 flying example in North America out of Quebec [I'm guessing that is the one I saw years back]

It has been down for a few years now pending engine work. There are not a lot of people in the world who are willing to touch that engine.

It is also currently for sale:

Thanks for the update, looks like the odds of seeing one in the air[or at all] are looking pretty slim.

I have confirmed with the Thunder organizers that the B-29 Super Fortress "Doc" and the B-17G Flying Fortress "Texas Raiders" are attending this year's show. They will be on the next updated list.

Cheers,

Tom Walsh.

I know this has nothing to do with aviation, but does anyone have any idea what this years battle reenactment is going to be like ?

I talked with the crew of Doc at the WWII Weekend in Reading on Sat, and they confirmed they will be at TOM and they are flying. It is a beautiful aircraft!!!
