Another good candidate could be the Wright Cyclone 1820, during the civiln war in Spain one D.XXI was built by the republican forces which was equipped with a Russian M-25 engine. This was a license built Cyclone.

USAAF would be either the B-25 or, preferably a P-40. Navy/Marine Corps would be without a doubt Corsair

There are so many great planes to have flown. Honestly, I would fly whatever I was told to fly, whether that was a B-17, a P-51, an F6F or a TBM.
Faves would probably be the A-20 in AAF service, F6F or a TBM in Navy service.
I wonder if our choice of fighters or bombers reflects our individual personalities. It was said the AAF picked certain people to be fighter or bomber pilots based on their personalities.
