I just got to see Tanker 910, the DC-10 make a drop over a fire about 6 or 7 miles away. I've seen it in a number of air shows, but not actually at work...

The TV news said the 747 made it's first drop on a fire on the same site a few hours earlier. I have yet to see it.

I may just have to skip some classes tomorrow and go hang out at the San Bernardino Air Tanker base. It's SO cool, they have viewing stands to watch the aircraft and everything. They answer questions, hand out ear protection and seem to have as much fun as us gawking at the fence.

The Martin Mars was assigned to another fire about 30 miles away a couple of days ago, but I never saw it go over. I hope to get to Lake Elsinore and catch it tomorrow on my way to work....!

Yesterday I got to see the Collings Foundation B-24 and B-17 arrive here in Williamsport, PA!
Yea !!! I haven't seen any warbirds since Geneseo's show this year. Oh how this helped, because I was "jonesing" bad.

I did not get to see their red tailed P-51 though? I know it is in town...I will hopefully see her today!

Navion I don't recognise (if anyone knows which one this is, let me know; I'd love to have another Navion in my logbooks)

and Yak-52TW N718PH is still at KLUK, for some reason (although I didn't get a picture today)

As mentioned, the Collings birds are in town. (Williamsport, PA) I was at the Airport yesterday and was able to watch them leave for their afternoon flights. I did get to finally see the P-51C. She is beautiful. I work late today, but, should be able to see them on their afternoon flights over the office.

A C-5 on what looks like approach for KCVG, "escorted" by a B737. Second time recently I've seen C-5's in the Highland Heights area.

Kinda miffed I'm not able to go down to CVG to see it up close :(

Yak?

Yep, it's still there. I'm still wondering just why it's here, though.

Also saw a VH-60 and a pair of VH-53's (as did several of my friends), as the President is going to be speaking at an AFL-CIO picnic at Coney Island on labor day. Hopefully this means I'll get a chance to photograph Air Force One! :D

(that also explains the C-5's-delivering Marine One)

I saw a T-6 flying over the Jersey shore - Long Beach Island, NJ yesterday (Sept 5) - very pretty. Sorry, no pictures taken.

Just saw Lewis Shaw's P-51D take off from Addison about 10 minutes ago. Did a couple of wing-wags on downwind (and directly over my apartment) and then was gone. :)

While driving by Alliance in Ft Worth, TX, today about 1300L I saw a polished P-51 doing patterns.

Wish I could have snapped a photo, but I was driving on I-35.
