Terrific addition to the lineup, Michael! The C-1A Trader (cargo version based on the S-2 Tracker) was a real workhorse warbird transport of the Vietnam War with its COD mission to supply the Navy carriers off the coasts on Yankee Station and Dixie Station.

Love the sound of those twin Wright 1,525 HP radials.

Is that the Trader that used to be known as "Double Nuts" and crash-landed in a cornfield about ten years ago?

Yes, known now by her real identity of "Miss Belle." After close to 11 years absents, she will be making her airshow debut following the right engine failure/crash landing. A long journey of blood, sweat and tears.

Great news! Can't wait to see "Miss Belle" in action. If Dan Serrato's "Mudflap Girl" (seen at Thunder in 2011) is flying this year, that will make TWO C-1A Trader's on the U.S. air show circuit.

Great news! I used to love seeing her at the old Skyfest Michiana airshows. Congratulations to everyone involved for getting her back in the air! I'm sure it will be very rewarding to be able to make the rounds in "Miss Belle" again. :drink3:

Not to stray off the Thunder topic too much, but we also have a C-1 Trader flying on the west coast too.

I am still trying to figure out how I missed this thread and the news of the Vietnam Theme show? Someone posted that in 2013 it will be 40 years since the end, well we have also started with the 50th and there is a special program by the US Govt and this needs to be listed!!

http://www.vietnamwar50th.com/

If you end up having a "Gathering of UH-1's", I would hope that the VHPA would get notified so it gets in the newsletters.

If you need any assistance on ground vehicles, I can help out. I gave you some names in 2009 and its not a problem again.
This time I should let you pay to haul my trucks out there!!

Bare minimum, my jeep :)

Good to hear, Michael! Hopefully these are the first of a LOT of Hueys that will attend the "Vietnam" themed show this year.

:D

Please try to get the restored Sikorsky UH-34D Seahorse from Long Island too (attended Thunder in 2006)! This is a very iconic piston engined helicopter that served the Marines in South Vietnam especially in those early years of 1965/66/67.

Just saw a post over on Fence Check that indicates there will be a pilot available at Tyndall to fly a QF-4 Phantom for some Heritage Flights this year! Wouldn't it be outstanding to see a QF-4 and the Collings F-4D at Thunder this year!

Looking forward to some great vintage prop and jet warbirds at Thunder this year.

GREAT addition to the lineup, Michael! The C-123K was one of the most iconic cargo planes of the Vietnam War and fits into this theme like a glove! Looking forward to seeing it at the show.

Hans Lauridsen has the ex-Wiley Sanders C-1 at Buckeye airport, Arizona that is flyable. Or at least it was when it arrived a year or two ago. Hans is putting together an interesting collection which I hope includes plans to keep 'em flying but I don't know what his intentions are. Good pics and info on the collection can be found here: http://www.air-and-space.com/20100219%2 ... ridsen.htm

The C-45 is now resplendant in a white and orange Navy scheme and looks very nice. The Albatross is currently getting a USCG paint job and is coming along nicely, albeit very slowly. (One guy doing all the work!) I'll try and get some pics in the near future if there is interest.
