This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

It's good to see a post from you here on WIX again. I guess I have done the opposite I post here on WIX and lurk on Flypast.

Good to here from you, any new projects ?

Steve

I echo those sentiments. My only question is how on earth the Flypast forum is better than WIX? There's waaaaay too much international political stuff over there. Makes this look like a child's playground even in the "good 'ole" days last year here. All the "fanboys" and such!
I do agree that it'd be nice to see more threads on warbirds from other countries, and we need to be friendlier to the static types.

I agree with the observations made by Cees. It's not too surprising that an American site has lots of Americans on it, but the international aspect is weaker than it was. Politics don't interest me and I'll skip any post which is overtly political, but much worse than politics (in my book at least) is patrioteering. I find that wearisome and those that indulge are clearly not the most intelligent of the species. They are the fanboys feeding their fantasies. Lord save us from them.

Continuing, and wholeheartedly agreeing with what Glyn posted in terms of patrioteering, I've noticed that French participation dropped off after the wave of uncalled for, gratuitous, and basically stupid slights aimed at the French passed through WIX a while ago.

We are not the better off for it.

I think you all need to wipe away your tears and give each other big hugs .... I'm the only one who can whine like a baby around here, why? because my dad is a big time war hero and used to fly the CAF's Hellcat ... haha  8) 8) ... So get over it and wish the original trouble maker of this thread a HAPPY BIRTHDAY TODAY!!!!!!

Haha ... see what you created Beachy? ... happy BDay :D

disclaimer: I'm funning with my FELLOW thin skinned, uptight, egotistical, know everything WIXers .... If you can't make fun of yourself and laugh at your foolish self every now and then, who else can you make fun of ... the French? ... haha

All joking aside, I think you guys have a very nice website with some great folks past and present. You'll all be very nieve to think the BS will just "go away" ... it never has gone away and never will. Politics, pissing matches, BS postings, personal crap that has nothing to do with warbirds will always be here in some way. And kooks like me will still threaten to leave and still stalk all of you with my nonsense. It's just human nature and the way the internet works. Like I have said many times, I'm still learning this new forum posting thing and I continue to fail at it all the time. I use this website as a release from all the crap I deal with in the REAL WORLD. Sometimes it works for me, sometimes I fall apart a bit and pout like a baby, trust me, I always re-read my posts and many times I want to go run and hide out of pure imbarasement. But I also think most here know that I'm one of the good one's and many, many here are just the same as I am ... We all want to do well here and get along with everyone, but sometimes we fail and make mistakes. I received a very kind PM recently that simply stated that a great approach to posting on a website such as this one, especially for someone such as me, is to develope your post, walk away for a few minutes, re-read your post and if it still reads well, click the "submit" button. Sounds like great advice to me .... But I'll still blow it every now and then, It's who I am, a big loser ... haha

Reminds me of the scene in Papillon, where McQueen sticks his head out of his solitary cell and says,
"How do I look today? I feel fine..but I need somebody to tell me how I look."

Hofffman:"Fine. You look fine." 8)

Scott WRG Editor wrote:Thanks everyone for taking the time to contribute to this post. It has given me a lot to think about. It won't be instituting a "pay to play" set up at this time (but the voluntary contributions are always welcome  ) I am working on transitioning the forum from phpBB2 to phpBB3 which has some different features to it and will hopefully ad to the ability to moderate the forums.

I'm going to be taking some of the suggestions under consideration and I'll let you all know what the future holds.

Thanks.

I haven't taken the time to thank Scott for running this website. As a member/lurker in WIX and the previous incarnation of WRG (seems like about 10 years now) I have learned a lot from both websites and I think WIX has been a valuable resource for general information and current issues.

Good luck in the transition to Version 3 of the software. I hope the new features are helpful, including the new administration features that should be very useful for forum moderation, especially the user/member controls which appear to be necessary at times (especially lately.)

Thanks, Scott. I hope the new software makes life easier.
