Who plans a vacation to see a national museum? Ummm...I do. I also plan a vacation around the time of Oshkosh. I bribe my son by telling him that if he does not mind going to Oshkosh with me and spending an entire day "looking at boring old airplanes" I will take him to 6 Flags for an entire day of me watching him puke his guts out

Also Ryan, if ya look at my comments, I said that I agreed with the NMUSAF decision to get the Belle off Mud Island and into the hands of the museum officials who had much better means to restore and care for her. She is the Belle, no matter that very little of her still remains. I am very aware that she has had numerous coats of paint applied, things removed and all of that. I am aware.

This entire discussion is fantastic to see, in my opinion. It is wonderful to see that there are so many people who are so afflicted with the same disease that I have 8) I love old airplanes and am a WIX-aholic :P Nice to see that there are others with the same affliction/passion!

Just my 2 cents but if the aircraft are privately owned, it's pretty much up to the owners as to how they're used. This might sound a bit crass but if you spent the money to recover/restore an aircraft, it's (IMO) none of my business how you opt to treat your personal property so long as it's within the constraints of the law.

The only aircraft you/we have the right to dictate anything about is the one that you/we personally own.

Apologies if I've misinterpreted the intent of this discussion.
