While I appreciate the idea of a WIXers sponsored tent, I'm kinda' at a loss as to what it would accomplish. Would somebody please 'splain it to me in words of 3 syllables or less?
I found the Photo Pit at Thunder a great idea and an excellent place to get pictures. Not to mention the shade provided by the tent, the seating and the free beverages.
What could be better than sitting in the shade until you see a "photo op" coming up, dash out from the shade, get your pics and scurry back to your seat where your cooling beverage awaits. I had a ball doing that. Almost 500 pictures in 2 days.

Mudge the couch potato

ps. I may have a slight advantage what with being able to shoot OVER most people.

I will second that!

Kevin... When can we sign up for photo pit passes?

Within the next couple of weeks we will have the web site revised and that info will be posted. :)
Thanks

We now started booking the aircraft.

15 B-25s are all set with a few others to be added in the next few weeks.
(it still looks like 20 will be possible to make deals with to attend)

Also 3 P-47s have been added.

Will the WWII Battle Re-Enactment be included for the 07 show?

I find that to be one of the hightlites of the show, and find that is one of my most popular video's on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xawzOKejyX0 Looking forward to adding another video camera next year to get a 2 angle view of the shows.

When does construction of the full-scale USS Hornet replica flight deck get underway? :)

Dave,
We are definitely looking at doing a battle for the 07 show. We are working on a concept to make it a little different, yet again.

I can't tell you how many times I've been in the Hangar, looked at the B-25, then tried to figure out how far away the end of the deck would have been based on where I was standing.

Our current home is a pretty large building. It's easy to pick a point and walk off the distance. In fact....I'll be there this Saturday. I may have to do a little math.....

Even though I was just joking about the replica, it would be a feasible, educational, and cool thing if you could paint or otherwise mark the shape of the Hornet flight deck somewhere on the airshow grounds where people could walk around it and see just how small it is.

If you built a waterline replica then the hangar deck could be put to good use !

Well, according to the never-trustworthy Wikipedia, Doolittle's plane (first off the deck) had 467 feet to get airborn. It can't be that hard to put up a couple of flags, or paint a white line on the ground...

Phil have you guys thought about making a marker or white line on the runway at 467 feet, maybe every 100 thereafter and letting the current Mitchell pilots have a go at it? Perhaps offer a prize. I'll put up the first $50, if others will also. On the far side of the line paint some blue water and some shark fins. We don't have the 25 knots over the deck, but planes are now lighter with no bombs, etc. The PILOt NOTES for the late model Griffon Seafire gives a takeoff distance of 150 feet with lot's of power an Jato assist.

Bill...Great idea. I'll put $50, too.

Mudge the philanthropist

Well, the last time I (or anyone from my department) talked to the airport authority, it was about firing laser beams across the field. It was for perfectly legitimate purposes, I swear, but now they look at me funny here when I utter the words "I've got an idea...."

(Before you get any more ideas....we were looking at ways of getting network access to the planned expansion areas. But still, how many people can say their network expansion project was shutdown by FAA guidelines :P )

Still, marking out the length on the grounds somewhere would be pretty cool. Especially along the flightline. You can see the pictures and hear the numbers all you want, but to get an upclose representation would be kinda cool.
