I happened across the museum in Birmingham by accident last year and was quite impressed. I had never heard a word about it among the warbird crowd, and was fairly impressed that such a substantial collection existed in such relative obscurity. It should make a good home for the B-25, although I don't recall seeing any type of restoration facilities at the museum. Any news on whether the B-25 is to be restored on site there?

I think they were hoping that is was under part of the a/c, but it wasn't. (from what I read in the news and we all know how good that info can be)

I haven't read anything about them going after it. I would not assume it would be worth the $$ and effort (other than having it all)

I recall Gary larkins or one of his team members saying that just recoverying a couple of the engines from B-17F 42-30861 would finance it's recovery from up there in Alaska. So by that measure I'm sure trying to locate the engine might be worthwhile.

Does anyone know where on the lake it crashed or where they have it sitting on the beach?
If you goto google maps:http://maps.google.com/ and type Lake Murray, SC you get a nice satelite image but cant zoom in too far(says it dosnt have imagery at that zoom level for that region).

Pretty sure that the google maps aren't Live images so you not goigng to see anything to do with the recovery effort.

Images on google maps can be quite old actually. While checking out Philadelphia the other day i noticed that Lincoln Financial Field was still under construction on the image. The Eagles have been playing there since 2003.

yeah i was looking at D.C. the other day and it was showing the WWII monument area still being cleared for initial construction.
