The fact that flying 707s are so rare makes me feel old. I figured there were more around than the few mentioned here.
Like many others, my first jet flight was in one, a Pan AM 707 in fact.

JT's 707 is a 707-138B, so it has turbofan engines while the "Clipper Majestic" had turbojets for the initial episodes, it's got the ventral strake not present on 707-300s because of their additional length and taller tail, the interior is 100% executive, not airline, there's a few other changes. Easiest way to tell is to look at pics -

Never really thought about it, but I guess so was mine 707 from Australia to the UK by Singapore Airlines. I still have the pack of cards I was given (presumably to keep me quiet) with the distinctive 707 tail on the design, somewhere.

wish i still had the boac flight club hard cover booklet that they gave out to kids on flights in the 70,s i still have super eight film of the cockpit inflight that my dad took i guess the times have truely changed!!!!

Mine wasn't a 'first flight', but I am glad to have at least had a flight on one. Heck, it was far enough back that Hacker probably doesn't remember much of it. But we flew an old "Aeroamerica" (there's one for the trivia buffs) 707 from Seattle to Honolulu in 1978. And even as a 11 year old kid, I realized it was old and on it's last legs. I remember it was such a bargain basement airline that we had to bring our own sack lunches.

My first jet ride was in 1964 on an American Airlines Boeing 707 type (may have been a 720) from Louisville to New York City to attend the 1964 New York World's Fair. Neato!

My first airplane ride was on an American Airlines 707 from JFK to IAD and back that night. It was a present from my dad for my 11th birthday. It was Feb 21-22 ?? 1979 and the plan was a flight into IAD and then head into DC to the NASM. The problem was it was a day after the great blizzard that shutdown the east coast. The weather was great but everything was under 3 feet of snow. We got into DC but all the museums were closed to let their employees stay home and stay off the roads. So I remember walking around peeking in the windows of the NASM. I've got some 8mm of that trip too somewhere.

NBC told me they had "a mechanical issue," but I have no idea how major or minor it is. I'll bet the producers of the show are beginning to wish they'd planned more than 20 minutes ahead...

I must be a total oddball--Jet Airliner type aircraft do absolutely nothing for me. They remind me of city buses.

We did labor assist on JT's 707 in Hamilton and his engineer at the time let me run the #3 engine from the captains seat while he ran the FE panel. Was a real thrill to run that airplane. We did a few things on it and worked on the GII. That airplane sure has a mitt full of throttles. JT was a wonderful fellow to meet, he truly has a passion for aviation.

Not at all, I quite agree, and frankly can't be bothered to tell the difference with what I fly in these days. I couldn't tell you what were the types I last flew trans Pacific this May.
