G'day Chris,

Lovely pics right there. Makes me even more determined to visit your beautiful country someday.

I'm impressed. Ten B-17s on one trip!

Any talk about constructing another building at March to place more aircraft inside? How about at Castle?

HAHA!! Not sure about Zack's stunt work. He did pull a stunt off at Castle Air Museum. I did not hear anything as far as buildings at either Castle or March. March has some aircraft indoors and on display. Castle has a restoration building, but it is not open to the public. Between the two it would be hard for me to choose which one I liked better as they each had their own feel to them. We spent more time at Castle, but that was becasue we had more time to spend. March was not planned, but when we figured out how close we were, we stopped. Planes of Fame and Yanks were up there as far as coolness. When it comes to the quality of the people working at the museum I would have to say that PIMA, MOF, and Palm Springs are among the nicest people. Not taking anything away from the other museums. These folks were among the most friendliest and knowledgable of the collections. This also not counting the Tri-State folks because they are in a class all to themselves.

Looks like waaaay too much fun!

Lot's of B-17's of all of those I've only laid eyes on the Evergreen bird. I'm gonna have to get out of town more often...

The "Fort Worth" B-36 looks great!
(Speaking of Fort Worth...where's the Wendy's pix? lol )

This might be too much "cool" for one thread! Seriously, each of these sets of pics could have been their own "I went to the museum here's the pics" thread. Pretty danged awesome. Maybe I'll just have to do that one day...you've inspired me!

The day after Pima, and after an interesting drive along the Mexican-US border we visited Midland, TX home of the CAF. On the way we also stopped by the Rattle Snake bomber base. Later that evening we met up with our very own Zane for a late dinner. It was really great to finally meet up! The next stop was back to reality at my home. It was a great trip, and one that I will always remember due to the sights we saw, the friends we visited, and the company we had.

Dudes! Most Excellent Adventure Indeed!!! Way too cool! Great job with text and photos!

As you know now, these kind of adventures become adictive! I found out the hard way....Ole Pooner and I have vowed to have at least one good adventure a year.....hope to have three good ones in before this year is out....And I know that Chris and Zack are more than likely in the planning stages for your next one....no?

We will by waiting for C&Z Part Two!

Thanks for posting Chris, a fantastic trip. I've done a couple of 'muscle car' road trips in the USA with a few warbird stops as well that I'll never forget.
7,500 miles, any tickets ?
