Thanks for the assist Ryan.
Well folks, we're baffled. The only option left is to upgrade to PhpBB3, however, this isn't really an upgrade, its a whole new software package. At least on the backend. I haven't had a chance to mess with it much so there will be a learning curve. Here's the plan right now.
Sunday: Install PhpBB3 and port over a copy of the database for the site, assuming that goes well we will be running a concurrent "beta" version of the site. I will probably ask people to log in and post as a test, these posts will not survive the site going live but will be replaced by the latest version of the current forum. Confused yet? That just means your paying attention.
The Beta will run for a week, and if I can get it running with some semblence of stabiliity I will the shut the forum down on the following Sunday and port over the current copy of the site and hopefully in a few hours we will have the new site up.
Several things could snag this. I have a job.... I know you all think I live off the vast resources the site generates... thats not true (with the economy as it is, the site no longer covers its own expenses, they come out of my pocket again), so I have to work, if you want to help, by a kindle

, my department is entering month 5 of unlimited overtime. And since I run my shift I am there 10-12+ hours a day, 6-7 days a week. They assure me this will let up at the end of March..... 2010
That is the main reason for my absence, combine that with a new fiance and two kids and time is limited. I will do my best but no guarantees. If all 7000 members subscribed via paypal for $2 a month I will quit my job and work the board full time, until then...
Also, the notification system is also affecting new member applications, see the post in the welcome section for information on what to do if a friend hasn't been approved yet.
Thanks for the patience and the support.
