where did you guys find replacement wheels??? So whats the idea with engine runs???? They complete???

Tires for the mains could be a major problem for any F-89 project as IIRC it's the only a/c that ever used that size tire. We got lucky and found a pair courtesy of Steve Hinton and the POF. Thanks Guys!

As far as engine runs go; yesterday a certain ex-astronaut said "Looks like it's time to put a battery in it and call the fuel truck"
Seriously; as it sat outdoors without any plugs in the engines for the last 12 years and has lots of dirt built up inside, it would take some MAJOR engine work before you ever hit the starter switches. Maybe someday...

Just curious, will this beautiful and rare aircraft stay on its wheels, being able to be towed outside for special occasions ?

I ask that, because it's always so sad to see nicely restored aircrafts be put in some dark corner of a museum or hung on the ceiling, after work on them is finished.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. Hal did a great majority of the work, I was only on the recovery crew.

She'll be staying on her wheels where everyone can get to see her.

Nice to hear that :-)

Your team can really be proud of this restoration, what an amazing aircraft.

That bird is looking good. Everyone involved should be commended.

Now ya just need a couple of nuke tipped Genies and about four AIM-4s...
