I agree with you guys that had it not been taken that it wouldn't be here today.

Mike, it would be cool to see them do that, just so it was done safe and they didn't modify it. Also in your profile pic are you sitting in a commet?

Well here's the way I see it when we took the Mig they were fighting against us. Now on the flip side let's look at what our allies did while we where fighting FOR them the Soviets took 3 B-29's and the Chinese took the P-61.

Does anyone know if the aircraft have been moved back to the museum?
If they have not, are they accessible in the parking lot?

From the photos it appears the parking lot is blocked off.
And darn, I was just there last week. I could have checked. Maybe I'll get over there again this month.
If I get out there is there anything else I should check?

Yeah, check on the price! Shouldn't hurt to ask. Who knows? You might catch them on a good day!

I'm there right now  I was just curious first of all were they still there and second of all if they were accessible. I'd be a kid at a candy store window looking at the planes and not being able to get near them.

Do you live there or just hanging out? Looks like no PEK for me tomorrow. Off to SYD. Maybe next week.

Just hanging out... only here for another two days and wanted to know if I had time for a quick side trip and if it was worth the efforts to wander over there :)

I may have sent my last reply by accident before finishing it.
Anyway, I was having breakfast near the airport in SFO yesterday and three Chinese guys came in and sat next to me. We started chatting and come to find out they were from a Chinese company who makes the tail section of the 737. I mentioned I liked going to PEK because of all the aviation memorabilia there. Then I went on to say there was a very famous American plane the the aeronautical college. One guy said, Yea, P-61 Black Widow. I asked him if he knew how it got there and he didn't.

Now down under in SYD and head home tomorrow.
Nasty weather here. Rain, rain, rain and a ton of turbulence on approach.

Thanks for the update George. Glad to hear that some of the locals know the significance of the P-61.

In Chinese, it is a "Pee Lee-Oh Shuh Eeee"

It took a lot of 'splainin until those words were uttered for anyone to know what we were talking about. The Chinese translation of Black Widow got us nowhere!

Maybe if I coordinate things my PEK ATC buddy can go out there with me.
