Let's not go THERE. No, no Russell or Potter aircraft were there (and I'm NOT saying another word...).

??

Well now you've just intrigued me. I just assumed that they didn't attend since the show focused on naval aircraft and neither group has any (cept for the VWoC Corsair).

And Swordfish

Yep, but the Swordfish hasn't flown since before it was trucked to Gatineau. VWoC have their hands very full this season with the operation of the "Hawk One" Sabre, so with the availability of three other Corsairs from US collections, it doesn't surprise me that Mr Potter's FG was not at Gennie. And, as has been said, the Potter and Russell collections do not otherwise include any Naval aircraft. (And Mr Russell also has the Me109 situation to deal with.)

On the flipside, CWH's participation continues to grow, with their Canso appearing at Gennie for the first time ever (she'd been at Batavia in '96), and two member-owned aircraft present too (Sandy Thomson's Sea Fury and the Stampe SV4 of new Lysander pilot Rick Rickards). Hope that continues. (Lizzie on the hallowed turf in '10, anyone??)

Yeah and I'm the punk standing right next to the kid with the CV shirt! Chris and Glenn it was great meeting you guys. Greasemonkey...sorry about that....you know I always mention WIX and met so many folks who admit they are lurkers so I think my brain just filed you into that category...didn't mean too. Nice to meet you. You should have stuck your hand out, said Hi and let us know your screen name, but then Glen would have probably stuck an oily rag in it and told you to start wiping the TBM!  I also got to meet up with Tim again, missed out on the home brew again though since we didn't get to the chicken dinner...half of our group wanted to head into town. Any tasting reviews?

It was also great to hang with the pilots who swung by the tent, Jason Somes, Mark Allen and Ted the tail gunner of the Helldiver crew, Snort, and Ollie with the FW who I finally got to meet.

Pics will follow....

Don't be silly Pete. I offer all newcomers the clean rags. It's their job to make them oily!!!

Glenn

PS restoration tip to all: if you are going to paint anything with a round engine white, bring lots of rags with you! There is no hiding.

Here are a few of mine. A big thank you to Hellcat pilot Jason Somes for allowing me into the office of the F6F!
