It's "Soda Blasting", just compressed Baking Soda. It's similar to Bead/Sand Blasting parts to remove the paint, but a lot gentler on the aluminum with out dimppling the skin like the sand/bead blaster does. Afterwards, a Water/Vinegar mix is used to neutralize the Soda Blast.
I'm glad that he guy was able to make it out and get it done, now we can get it moved in side, and start working on the big jobs.
I'm helping out with it, and can't wait to work on it inside. I was out there last friday trying to degrease the cockpit for paint prep, and my fingers froze off my hands!

Oh and PbyCat-guy..... great job (warm up those fingers)....... Tell Jack K., Norm B., and all of the crew members that everyone is tuned in to watch (keep posting piccies!) the progress over the winter!!!!!!! Alan

Mike,

I just got am email from out Maint. Officer and they are indeed looking for some things. ie Cockpit instruments, levers, knobs etc. Radio operator / bombadier seat, etc. We'd love any help we can get. I can put you in touch with him (John Fuentes) if you think you might be able to help.

To anyone else reading this thread, please let me know what TBM parts you have to sell, dontate, trade. THANKS!

I have a few instruments, including several TBM-3 fuel gauges in nice condition. Let me know if there's something specific you have in mind.

Cheers,
Richard

Today, two of our member's, John Fuentes and Fran Fortin drove the turret to Mr. Kosko's place. They were pleasently surprised to find the TBM inside! John snapped a bunch of pictures. I'll post them as I can get to them

I notice that the throttle quad only has the throttle and mixture levers on it and that the propeller control is a vernier control on the panel.

What prop does the TBM use?

I'm not a mechanic so any of the mechanics out there feel free to correct me but my data shows its a Hamilton-Standard 23E50-489.

I found this on the net at Ham-Stands website, kinda cool.
