WOW! :D

After watching her deteriorate for years in Cowtown, I never thought I'd ever see The City of Fort Worth lookin' so great! What a fantastic effort by everyone involved!

However. . .

Chris. . .

Dude. . .

ahem. . .

I'm what native Texans call a "Damned Yankee" (a Yankee who came to Texas and stayed), and even I know the difference between Fort Worth and Dallas. . .

Cheers!

I agree, I liked the video too.

I would have liked to see it stay, but it found a good home.

Ya' know Chris, seeing as how mild the rebukes were from the guys west of 360, it shows that they really like you. Cue Sally Field.

A while back, the American Idol folks called Arlington Dallas and the fur flew for days.

Stunning restoration job on the B36. I fell sad that I have never had the privelidge to see one in flight but to see one beautifully restored like this one makes up for it... Well done to everyone who was involved!!

First of all Wonderful Job !...............I have a few ?'s Will the outer engines ever be sought and Props hung on ? and for that Matter will the Jet Engines be placed on as well ? Dose anybody have any film or sound bite when the Spirit of Fort Worth had some of its Engines cranked up in the Early 70's ? .....................again wonderful to see .........Sad that I will never get to see one fly in my life time .

i cant begin to imagine the satisfaction of a dream come true for all of those involved in this restoration. i am quite sure that pictures dont begin to do it justice :drink3: my question is why are the windows of this and several of the other aircraft painted over ? i would assume that its for some type of protection. great job !!

There are no engines on the aircraft at all. The people in Ft. Worth designed and installed armatures that fit in the nacelles and hold the props in place so it looks like the engines are there.

The last two props and the jet pods will be mounted after the restoration crew comes back from a well deserved long weekend. They were left off so the plane would fit through a tight spot on the path to its parking place. As it turned out we probably could have hung the props but the jets definately wouldn't have fit.

I've seen photos of a prop turning on the B-36 back in the 70s but I've never seen any movie film. The attempts to get the engines running is why the Air Force took them away at the time.

Correct. The windows are painted to protect the interior of the aircraft and the windows themselves from the sun and heat. The materials we use can be removed if a plane is placed on display indoors at some point.

Howdy James, regarding the paint on the windows, I understand the reasoning behind it to keep the sun and heat down, but why do some of the aircraft only have some of the windows done and not all of them? The helicopter in this picture that was previously posted is a good example of what I'm talking about........
