PBY Flight Engineer's Panel?

Mon Dec 01, 2008 11:44 pm

It would appear that the panel above the tank is Dzused on but I don't think it would be an outer skin :? Thats quit an opening for the fuel nozzle  . I'll stick with PBY again  :?: Any more clues :?:

Mon Dec 01, 2008 11:46 pm

It has nothing to do with a PBY.

It looks like a nose tank of a Beech 18 but the filler neck is in a strange place. It should be on the upper aft right side of the nose instead of the front. It looks like in its present location it will fall short of the 80 gallon capacity.

Do you have a Beech 18 at Austin Acres?

Tue Dec 02, 2008 11:28 am

Dang it, I was going to put a "no Taigh Raimey clause" on that quiz item, but thought it would just give it away that it's a Beech 18 part.
I have a various amount of Twin Beech stuff there and am working on getting a fuselage (stay tuned on that one).
This nose section is where that fuel tank is located........

Well, "VS" stands for Vought-Sikorsky.

Since somebody else will go with the F4U, I'll guess OS2U Kingfisher.

Do I get the Turtle Wax?

Tue Dec 02, 2008 2:23 pm

Ahhhh, so we have someone that figured out the VS. You may be right, but you're wrong on the type of aircraft. ;-)

That's what it looks like to me. I'm just wishing I had the rest of the helicopter. :-)

Well, y'all have passed the test(s). Now I'll just post pictures of things that I have no clue as to what they went on and we'll see if we can identify some neat ol' stuff. :-)

Pictures to follow..........
