Took these pictures of T-33s in the Fire Training area at Patterson AFB's Boy Scout Camp at the field about 20 years ago. I seem to recall that they still has tires and shell ejection chutes and didn't really look to be in too bad of shape, all things considering

This T-33 has since been moved to the side of the Fire Station and is in much better shape but I don't have a recent picture of it. Many years ago, the City of Brooklyn, Ohio had offered this T-33 Free to who-ever wanted to tow it away (I have the newspaper article somewhere) as they wanted to re-do the playground it was in, BUT found they could not give it away as it is owned by the Air Force Museum.

58-0510 of the 49th FIS (Rome NY) in mid 80s at Youngstown ARB after an accidental canopy release. 510 was never repaired of reclaimed. It stayed at YARB for the next 10yrs and is now used as a target at Grayling range.

510 was the assigned aircraft of Astronaut LtCol. Paul Lockhart (Lt. then)

Here's the thread with more pics as i found her and the story: http://warbirdinformationexchange.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=9044&highlight=t33+510+shay

The Carswell F-80!

Great to be able to see these planes in my home town. They have been behind the fence for quite a while now. The F-80 looks better than the last time I saw her.

Thanks!

Actually you are more correct than you thought (but I posted and F-80 too) the aircraft at the 45 Infantry Mus is actually a T-33A (58-0505)posing as an F-80.

Maybe I missed it, but I'm kind of surprised that nobody has posted a picture of the T-33 on a stick at the Schlameyer Airport in Odessa, TX. I just figured with it being so close to the annual CAF Airsho (and where Traron practice is each year) that someone would've zapped a picture of it.

Zane, does this "surplus yard of sorts" near Bowie, TX have anything other than the T-33 and helicopter remains that would look good at Austin Acres? ;-)

Gary,

I think a big ole helicopter would look good next to the Connie...er I mean Catalina...

There are a couple of T-33 fuselages and a couple of helicopters plus a bunch of other stuff like the trailer and some engine containers...nothing "classic".

Interesting to see the picture of the landing T-Bird on the listing for the T-33A at the Frontiers of Flight Museum see page 2, third posting from the bottom).

http://www.airliners.net/photo/USA---Ai ... 0795030/L/

This photo was taken by me at Keflavik on June 24, 1978. While it is visible to the world on Ailiners.net, no one has asked me for permission to use it. It would have been given freely, but it really does not go well with me to have someone use one of my photos on a public place like this without asking and mentioning its origin and author. Now I know that I will never get rich from my aviation photography nor is that the point. But please enjoy the image in the meantime.

I certainly enjoy browsing WIX and following the discussions even if I do not post very often.

Baldur: nice photo. However, the T-33 appears to be taking off. The flaps are at 30% and the speed brake is up.

Vlado

It has been 30 years, but I am nearly positive that he was shooting touch and goes on runway 02 and it is taken close to the southern end, so he is at least doing a low wheels down pass.

There is another T-33A doing low passes on my site,

taken on May 19, 1977. This is 58-0540.
