This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

You are welcome. Myrtle is a bit of a footnote in Warbird history now, but she was around back when I started photographing this stuff so long ago and so did end up in more shots than I remembered. I'm glad there's some interest in this old material. There are a few more -- I'll post some when I can over the next couple of days...

In looking over this thread I notice that the nose art was redone for display -- I must say the original was much better done, to my eye at least...

Yeah, I wish they hadn't painted the nose section grey or silver (B-29's were natural/unpainted!). It's too bad it's mounted on a shopping cart now...
...although I understand they don't have enough $$ to restore it...

The only flying shot I have (not terribly good) -- and another oldie from the same time period for Gary...

And a couple more from that long ago spectacular Warbird show in Chino...

Wow! Great profile shot! Look at the guns pointing up on the aft turret! Was that turret operational?

What is the deal with that? Is the "restored" nose section in Florida actually a different aircraft?

I was thinking the same. Seems aerotrader have parts of at least 2 different B-29's in that project.

The B-29s stored at Carl Scholl's place are all Kermit's as well. The nose pictured above was one they just did up for a movie prop. The real one is the one restored and on display at the museum.
