There was no mention (in the FJ article)
of the PBY Jato launch. The huge C-74 Globemaster I is not mentioned...tho in such a small article this may be expected.
I also found it hard to believe your dad would miss a shot of the the GORGEOUS Republic Rainbow and the A-26 "Reynolds Bombshell"
...and there is evidence of neither in the background shots.

The possibility exists that he did photograph them however they have been lost to the ravages of time. Maybe the paper he worked for still has the negatives in a folder?

I know that at one time I had about 100 Brewster photos That has diminished to about a hald f a dozen. I used to take pictures of Corsairs in flight and cut them out and glued them to Guillow balsa gliders.

Several reasons this may have happened..Dad didn't have enough film/didn't go there/same bird(s) weren't there
when he was/didn't have the same interests/misplaced photos etc etc etc...

As for the Flight Journal incomplete report...maybe the PBy wasn't mentioned by the reporter for some of
the above reasons as well as the C-54 by its size being squirted off the ground caught his attention moreso.

The publication that the airshow was in is in England so I am sure they used stock shots. Who then knew the signifigance of the Rainbow or the Globemaster? They looked like they would be in the roster for some time back then.

I went back to the album and the FJ and realized the JATO C-54 is a different bird than the FJ photo..note
the reserve colors of the tail and wings in the FJ pic, which are lacking in your Dad's photos?

Not Reserve Colors but Red Arctic conspicuity colors. Still a different bird than what appears what was at the show..."stock photo"
handed out to the press the AF?...different bird different day?..more on that later.

Lets keep on digging!

C-119 is CQ-048(tail number obscured)

Not a C-119 Robbie, but a C-82A Packet. The 048 following the CQ are actually the last three digits in the a/c
serial number...identifying her according to Baugher as C-82A-25-FA, c/n 10092, 44-23048. In Alwyn Lloyds C-82/C-119
book he ID's this bird as a C-82A-30-FA, but beyond that they agree on the following info...she left the service to
civil reg. as N5115B, then sold on to Transportes Aero Mexicanos, SA as XA-LIY. Beyond this I dunno..calling Tulio???

If you look at your photo behind the buzz number behind the propellor warning line on the fuse is the number
92... she'e the 92nd(c/n10092) C-82 built...I can barely make it out.

In Lloyd's book on page 10 is a photo of CQ-048 just becoming airborne. Location is un-identified, but in the
background under the C-82's mains is a C-54 with an arctic conspicuity tail. To the left of the C-54 is a NMF
C-47 and behind them further to the left, perpindicularly, is a large transport(C-74?) with a really tall tail. To the left
further and distant is another NMF bird(bomber-like?) and then the beginning of a large tree line.(Twilight Zone music)..Weird, huh? Hope this helps!

Could you ask your dad if he flew with a Baxter Little in the 225. My uncle flew with them after he flew with the 452 while on the Franklin for a short ride...

Thanks,

Lynn

Found out, definitely, that the airshow I thought was at Warminster was actually at Philadelphia Northeast... The control tower burned down in the early 1970s...

The top of the New Tower at Johnsville , is sitting under a tarp at the Old Willow Grove NAS. You can see it and the Cutlass across from the Horsham Inn.

I take our kids to the Warminster park there and walk the old Johnsville runway all the time. Very odd and sad feeling being on there. Also, the few buildings on Bristol road side that are left I believe now are used by Penn State. I'll just always remember driving by that and seeing the F/A-18 Hornet upside down on one of the structures.
