On a side note, I'm kind of dissapointed that the political talk was banned. I always found them quite entertaining to read. I love discussing things, especially politics. I do it all the time with my friends, but we never get mad, or the catch-all phrase for people without a backbone: "offended." If you feel offended while in a discussion, it really is simple--don't participate. This is an optional activity. No one is forcing us to be here, or post here. Seriously.

I personally have thought that there should be a specific forum for politics that you are allowed in by request only. If you request to be in the room you wave all of your rights to not being offended. If any topic in the hangar starts to stink of political baiting, you throw it in the politics forum. Politics are interesting to discuss but every time they are discussed in the other forums you get a long line of whiners complaining, and a bunch of people all butt-hurt over the situation. If you make it by request only then you cut out those who are easily "upset" when others raise their voices.

And we can all guess the intent of what you and Owen Miller said when you commented that you would like to catch him at an event some time. Make sure I am not there

"Get a ticket my" ass. You should be permabanned for threatening physical harm to another member. You've stomped all over the liberals on this board repeatedly with nothing said, but I'm sure you wouldn't pull that crap to my face. It's easy to act the big shot on the net, like you so often do. However, IRL I find your type generally laughable.

As for Bill's ban. I'd let it slide. Bill's not really the type to intentionally insult somebody, and Randy sure as hell was able to defend himself. Nuff said, Nuff done. Except for Owen and Broken Wench. They both need permabans, as I said.

Okay everybody, let's all make nice. So, who's coming to the 2008 AirVenture WIX Gathering at my place in July? We can all hash out our differences over a beer - which I'll be happy to provide this time 'round :D

Actually Bill does have a history of insulting people. At Oshkosh a number of years ago there was a presentation by an F-105 driver that had spent many years being tortured in the Hanoi Hilton, he shouted out a number of insults meant to insult and cause hurt to a guy, thirty years after the was has ended.
I won't go into the story I heard because I wasn't there, and I'm sure it was exagerrated. I have heard different versions from several different people that were there.
I like everyone on the Wix, ESPECIALLY those currently serving in our military and upholding their oath of allegiance, and following their orders. This is the first war in our country's history where only one half of one percent of our citizens are being asked to sacrifice any of their freedom.
I like B.W. and appreciate how he has operated his Spitfire, and not destroyed it like some other owners. I also like that he has an especially high value of life and despises war. I do feel he meant his remarks to be hurtful, and incisive to someone he does not know personally. As you know the Osprey has an Abysmal safety record and I took his comment towards Randy as meaning he hoped he would die in a fiery crash.

I'm sure you wouldn't pull that crap to my face. Wanna Bet ? I'll have a whole bunch of words to go with it.?

Actually you did, sweetheart. It's there in black and white. Unless you edited it out already :) Like you've done once already. Riight. Like I said. Hot air and posturing. Nothing behind it but stale farts.

Gee, I missed all the excitement, again.

Bill Greenwood.... Can't live with him, can't live without him! I'm really on the fence here so I will refrain from voting. His firsthand warbird experience is quite valuable, his need to interject his political view in every post he makes is distracting.

I wonder how his son voted?

You bring the music. I'll bring the boots.

I will leave the poll open until 12:00pm EST, on Nov. 8. I will then take the poll, PM's and posts into consideration and make my decision then.

I have received one PM that bothered me a little, and since it was private I shall quote it anonymously, I hope the poster understands.

Unfortunately, I just got to the point where I could no longer deal with the hostility, childishness and complete lack of respect shown by a great number of members for so many others. The greatest tragedy is the fact that in the land of supposed free speech, people are jumped on with both feet for expressing a contrary opinion, correct or not.

However, I think I am correct in suggesting that all of this has come about for the simple reason that people are being allowed to voice political slogans with regard to current situations, on a site that is supposed to be concerned with history, in the form of preserving, sharing and enjoying examples of military weapons of days gone by.

I wish you all the best because I think you personally have good intentions, but I think the monster you have allowed to surface is getting way out of hand.

This bothered me because in a lot of ways he's right, though I don't think it is a out of hand as he thinks. However, he is not the first person to express his disappointment. I do my best to provide an friendly environment and I realize it is impossible to please everyone. I try to enforce rules as infrequently as possible and actually having to ban someone or suspend them is annoying. But sometimes people don't listen to warnings and something has to be done to bring the point home that their behavior won't be tolerated. I have issued numerous warnings to Bill in the past and they have proven less than effective so the next step had to be taken.

And this isn't about freedom of speech. I respect our men and women for fighting to defend that right but their has to be controls. We don't have XXX films on broadcast TV, the F-bomb is for the most part not allowed in broadcast media, and you can't yell fire in a theater (unless their is one I suppose). If I didn't control some aspects of this sight it would be utter chaos. You can call it censorship if you like but it's something I have to do or else the site would be filled with Viagra SPAM.

We are a community here, we have to find away to get along. Treat each other with respect and think through your responses. Heck, wait 24 hours before posting a response to a post that pissed you off. Calm down, try to really understand what the poster meant.

And just because someone is new to the forum doesn't mean their a individual of questionable judgement. Jumping down someones throat, especially when they are new, solves nothing and make you look like the individual of questionable judgement.

And finally, these problems happen in every forum. Their is no magical place on the net where everything is perfect. It's a hazard of this form of media. I will try to do my best to oversee this community but in the end it is YOUR community. Let's all try and get along.

And remember, if you can't be civil then be quiet.

I think this Board needs a thunderdome for polital discussion. Thunderdome's simple. You can't won't break the rules, because there aren't any.
