Come to Belgium! We have many left. Most are corroded wrecks, but still :-) Some were even converted to look like Mirages!

There is a pretty rough, but appears to be complete, F-84 beside the VFW in South Whitley, Indiana. From reading what all of you guys have written, my guess would be the Air Farce still owns it?

Yep, it was probably loaned to them through the program set up at AMARC that loans to VFWs, American Legions, or public entities.

With that program and the museum program all titles to aircraft and equipment are retained by loaning organization.

Way north of Atlanta in the city of Calhoun sits a small and falling apart collection of aircraft including an F-84. This place is called Mercer Airfield and is visible from the I-75 north.

The aircraft is in decent shape except for lots of vandalism. I don't know who owns it as I could never find the serial number anywhere, and I haven't had hours to scan through Joe Baugher's list either. This might be worth investigating.

Apparently the F-84 at Mercer is going to MAPS. There was another topic about Mercer a litlle while back that made mention of this. Sure would be nice to find one stored away in a barn somewhere!!!! :)

Here's a few pictures of the F84 at Gateway in Kenosha Wi. A little rough around the edges, but not in too terrible shape.

A couple months ago there was a post about someone around Dayton or Cincinnati that bought 3 F-84s. I think this same guy had a B-47, A-7 and some others.

The Virginia Air National Guard located at Richmond International Airport in Richmond Virginia... has a F-84 posted as a gate guard to the entrance of the base. I dont know what the fate of it will be, but in the not too distant future the VANG unit is due to move to Langley AFB, and the Richmond base abandoned to the civilians.......might not hurt to check it out...also is an A-7D, and a F-105D Thud there on display as well. Might want to check with the Virginia Aviation Museum located at Richmond International as well, as they may have a clue to what the fate of the F-84 will be....

A guy with a private B-47? Wow, how did I miss that one? Is that the one that someone has that's in basically scrapped shape?

It is in southwest ohio and the guy only has pieces of the b-47 i posted pics a few months ago. he has the front fuselage and the rear fuselage but no wings or wings center section. he also has 3 or 4 f-84's that are in piecees, but with signifigant corrosion issues probably only good for cockpit projects. they are complete in the cockpit. he also has an F-105 in the building and an A-4 in the building. The sign to his house is an A-7 parked out front.

:x  Unfortunately the F-84 pictured above in Kenosha, WI has been scrapped as of 15 SEPT 2007. I took photos yesterday of what was left. I don't know yet how to post photos here. Apparently the director of the school did not feel the jet "fit" the image they wished to portray. I don't know if anything can be obtained/salvaged from the scrap company doing this work. The name on the dumpster is United from Milwaukee, WI (414) 449-2121

THERE WAS A F84-F THUNDERSTREAK SITTING ON A POLE IN FRONT OF THE VFW POST OUTSIDE THE MAIN GATE TO ELLINGTON FIELD SOUTH OF HOUSTON.

Unbelievable  . Didn't AMARC have a say in this? What a waste. If you PM me the pictures I'll post them here for you.

Chuck there IS an F-84 on a pole just outside of Ellington.

Chris, AMARC has NO say in anything. They are strictly a warehouse. They keep planes in the desert for clients. They have purview over nothing they store.

ALL DECISIONS REGARDING SCRAPPING OF ANY FORMER USAF STATIC AIRCRAFT IS STRICTLY DONE AT THE WHIM OF NMUSAF ! GENERAL METCALF HAS FINAL SAY.

This is infuriating...and something isn't making sense either.

The F-84 was parked at Gateway's A&P school. I believe the school is even connected to the airport there by a narrow taxiway. There are several warbirds based at this field, including Chuck Greenhill's collection. I know that in the past A&P's were sometimes hired from Gateway to do warbird restoration work. The director of Gateway must have known that there was potential interest in this bird. Perhaps one day we'll get to hear the whole story.
