HMMMM more specifics.....................Antenna - FM Homing Type DMN 15-1; P/N AS1922AARC.

I'm sure that is not the same thing y'all might have in your manual. The antenna is a bit decorative on the O2 as the indicator and/or radio it was connected to is in my storage unit not the airplane.

And the pony should be virtual if given...I can't afford anything else that eats....food or fuel... :lol: :roll:

Look for the pic of the A-26 and click on that. We have just posted the AF Dash One Manual (Pilots Manual) for the A-26 K there along with a study that was done by the AF prior to the conversion of the K's by On Mark about the combat potential and effectiveness of the airplane in SEA. We have a cool new GGA logo and patch as well, There is a link to the GGA Facebook page and we usually put up some photos and updates there too. Be sure to check out the B25 page for our calendar of events. This will be filling out soon as we prepare for airshow season. DC3 rides are also scheduled here. See you at Meacham soon. Looks like we have a winner already. No pony, but we will let you come work on the airplane!! Won't cost you a cent and we might even get you a cool black sweatshirt with the A26 logo on it!! So I would love to go with you to your place with a tape measure!! Or maybe a picture and some general dimensions would be easier??? :-) JR

Baxter Black is a cowboy poet and vet who writes for various newspapers as well. This appeared in the Amarillo paper this morning. If you just substituted pilot where he uses cowboy and airplane where he uses cow, this purty well sums up the "Pilot Mentality" too probably... that of focusing on one thing without assessing things going on around it ?? Baxter says, "Cowboy poetry is one of my efforts. I do my best, but sometimes when I am in the Corn Belt or entertaining the Western Pistachio Growers, I’m asked why I don’t do more farmer poetry? I try to explain to them that cowboy poetry is about wrecks: horse wrecks, cow wrecks, sheep wrecks, dog wrecks, financial wrecks, Tyrannosaurus wrecks and never-ending wrecks."
For instance, when someone tells a story about a horse buckin’ over the haystack and dumping the cowboy into the pig pen; or a rancher missing a cow in the chute, then getting run over while he’s trying to check her teeth; or the vet wrapping the calving chain over his wrist, then looping the other end over the nearly-born calf’s feet followed by the inevitable escape; or the mama cow chasing the cowboy around the pickup and through the cab while he tries to eartag said calf, everybody listening is laughing their heads off!
For some reason a cowboy getting bucked off or run over, plowed down, drug through the cattails, trampled, stomped or butted is funny. I’m not sure why.
I can think of two possible explanations: No. 1, the cowboy mentality and No. 2, the cow herself.
The cowboy mentality is an attitude, a view of life, an ability to focus so intently on one thing that other parts of the picture are blocked out. Like he’s standing on a railroad track at night, concentrating on the head lamp so hard he does not see the locomotive behind it.This tunnel vision, the cowboy mentality, makes it feasible for cowboys to step right into an obvious trap that others would normally avoid.
It often starts with the cowboy saying, “Whataya mean, I can’t ride that horse?” or, “Go ahead and let off on the squeeze, I think I can hold her!” or, “Don’t worry, dogs really like me.”
Then you mix this mentality with No. 2, the humble cow. There is a fine line between the “fight or flight” behavioral mechanism in the bovine.
But the cowboy always seems to be straddling the divide with a leg on either side when the cow makes her decision, fight or flight? Either way the cowboy gets run over, so it all works out.
Thus, it’s the idea that one of God’s dumbest creatures seems to regularly outwit our cowboy hero, and that makes it funny." On the other hand, farmer wrecks are always about machinery. Hanging your Carhartt coverall sleeve in the PTO and being stripped naked in a nanosecond or getting run down by a robotic controlled chemical spraying drone doesn’t really illicit large guffaws. That’s why I don’t write more farmer poetry. Of course, there’s always the one about the farmer’s daughter!" So how does an airplane seem to outwit pilots so often?? O2Lady... this is where our towel rack is on the belly or rather where it was. Looks like the horns got sawed off. Reminds me of my alma mater War Hymn... has a phrase that includes "Saw Varsity's Horns Off.... Short!!" Love that song.... such a catchy tune. But I digress. Anyway, I don't see how you can hang towels on your rack since they are top?? Did the FM radio still work when you got it? I think ours will still fire up, but can't use it anyway. May make a dummy towel rack if we can't locate one that is cheap. Say, do you look up at the topside when you do a preflight? :-) Brother J

Randy, you had asked about the bomb release set up in the bay. This is a picture of the forward section you mentioned. As you can see in the shot, there are provisions in the front bay for the small extra weapons although the releases have been removed. The yellow caps are placed over the electrical plugs for these releases. So you remembered correctly. Attaboy!! JR

Wrong-o, buckaroo! If the HF SSB radio and antenna are in working order, a licensed Amateur Radio Operator would be allowed to operate it on the amateur bands. I just happen to know such a person, and I feel quite certain that this person would be very happy to do it! :D

This is our new logo for Greatest Generation Aircraft Non Profit Foundation. It didn't start out to be a non profit operation, but as with all things in aviation, it just turned out that way. :-) Say, did you notice, that from Jan 21st to present date, we have had over 3000 views on this thread.
