For a while, it was advertised with Courtesy Aircraft. Mark Clark and his employees have been imprting and exprting warbirds for many decades. Look at their sales log. There are other reputable people on both sides of the pond.
Yep, memories are sketchy, I had forgotten a few details, namely the AD was flown into the U.S. Regardless of who he bought it from, the customs broker who handled the actual import of the aircraft and its 2 conex's of spares appear to have dropped the ball. I forget who they were, but they were a large Euro company in the business. IIRC(

), the court case held here locally, was Hendrickson's company sueing the broker. For those new to the story or fading memories I'm posting the link to the ICE news release. It smacks of federal overreach post 9/11 paranoia. Instead of screwed-up paperwork of a vintage a/c, it's a foiled attempt to bring in a WMD. A lot of apparent intent speculation, the pilot submitted false paperwork in order gain entrance...not his paperwork was wrong or incomplete. The cannons which were demilled to French specs were not listed in the manifest..bad boo-boo, tho once they're demilled they're basically interesting display junk. As Wixer Ryan Harris mentioned a few years ago, back in the day Hendrickson would've probably been fined 10K or so as a lesson on paperwork infraction and sent on his way. We never got Hendrickson's side of the story, so I get squeemish about heaping abuse on the guy when he's already had the slats kicked outta him. Anywho, the link...
