Above said, I haven't been out there in almost 20 years, so my post is my take on things and what what I remember from actually being there and seeing all three aircraft in person. I was also who ID'd Here's Hopin when it was sitting in Inyokern. I found the nose art outlines and ID'd it from photos available at the time.

The OP was pure whimsy; ?

You need to take a chill pill and stop that kind of aggressive behavior. There is indeed b-29, F9F, and f-86 parts still out there. I am an aviation historian, aviation business owner, plus own my own aviation museum and have information on lots of aircraft and aircraft wrecks out there. Was trying to share this cool and interesting information with others to get other people interested. Negative people are not needed and can move along as far as I am concerned.

It would appear that just about everything in the China Lake bone yard has been scrapped. Inquiries about them were met with stony silence or "Eff off, you don't work out here anymore". If anyone has anything different, please chime in.

I think we tried to clarify things a while back but the original poster of this thread just got antsy and somewhat unaffected by proof or common sense.

Yeah, got that impression too. I drive down Inyokern Rd fairly often, I used to be able to see the tail of the C-97 sticking up...not anymore.

The C-97 was supposedly reserved for the museum, so hopefully it's safe still...

Allegedly so was the B-29, an R4D and a few others.

Your very ignorant. ignore.................

Google map DID show piles of aircraft all over the place. Are they still there? I don't know, but google map still shows them and I just had a china lake worker email me that he there is still a bunch of F-11 tiger wings in a pile and other parts and abandoned aircraft out there. If the "boneyard" is referring to a fenced in area-I am not talking about that. There are/were other aircraft out there not in that pen.

I just wanted to talk about the hulks I saw on google map and how cool aircraft history is. There is still stuff out there. I know it seems a lot of people don't care anymore. But for those that do, I am grateful and appreciative of your positivity.

You're conflating a great deal there.

The point is that those who know, realize that the stuff you saw on Google Maps ain't there any more.

China Lake Google map has recently been updated. The boneyard pen has been dismantled, but other aircraft hulks and parts in the other areas are still seen on google map. I was emailed 2 months ago about the airplanes still out there.

Google map still shows f-86 hulks, f9f drone parts, f8 crusaders, and more. Obviously some airplane stuff is still out there for now.

Yall ever get bored, use Google Maps, to look at the Air Fields around Eglin AFB. I know NC-130A 55-0022 "Lone Wolf" (Last operational A model in USAF use) was flown one last time, landed at an Aux Field, shut down and locked up, and left to die. This was around 2003 or so if my gray matter is still somewhat functional, I'm assuming it's still there.

55-0022 would have made a nice museum piece somewhere, at least in my opinion.

Lots of jets and jet slaw (Targets I assume) strewn around the Aux Fields, along with ground equipment, tank hulls, trucks etc.

Is the '55 Chevy there as well? :)

Hey Nathan, hope all is well.

Sadly I’ve been scanning with the latest, greatest updated version of Google Maps. And yes! I own a copy in my office I use for various development projects from time to time.

I’m not seeing what you are seeing. Perhaps I’m not looking in the best locations but from what I’ve scanned so far, there’s next to nothing left out there. I hope I’m wrong but ….

Anyway! All the best with your research.

Mark

LOL, I wish (It'd be in my driveway already) but sadly no, the owner sold the car not too long after the picture was taken of these two Classic 55's. The picture was taken at Duke Field years before the "Lone Wolf" was flown to her retirement spot. They would look good sitting next to each other at a museum......!

For anyone who wants to look for them on their own - or just likes browsing out of general interest - the website Historic Aerials is an excellent resource for older aerial photographs. The GeoHack plugin, accessible through the hyperlinked coordinates in the upper right of most Wikipedia pages, also has a list of various aerial imagery sources. (For example, China Lake.) Lastly, OpenStreetMap is really useful if you've found something on an aerial image, but can't tell what it is.
