The only way that I can see for 608's wings to have wound up on 603 is if Pete did it in Florida while it was being restored. I would guess that to be unlikely because the wings my father and his partner John Mullen hauled back from George Heaven in CA certainly were marked "608" and they were actually in pretty good shape. Pete would certainly know and I assume he is still on our side of the grass, right? He once said that he had to purchase darn near another -5 in order to finish 608 and sell it to Doug Arnold and since 603 went down under as a relatively complete static, maybe the wings of 603 were in better shape? I've recently re-connected with John Mullen's long time girlfriend from the Corsair days. I know she has lots of photos and so does she but she doesn't know where they are. She only lives a mile down the road so I'll offer to help search. Ex-FAH 608 is probably coming to the Spirit of St Louis Air Show in Mid-May. I was thinking the owner might want the damaged inboard flap that I have but then It should probably go to a restoration that really needs it, like the one in France. Opinions on that? Thought?

Hi Al, don't think the wings on 603 were in great condition, from memory they had a lot of sheetmetal damage, particularly the LH tip skins, also pretty sure that the data plates did not match L to R so they were from different corsairs, the RH wing was definitely -5 as it had all the anchor nuts for the radome. No, Jose, I am not taking pics of data plates nor do I have the numbers, you will have to suffer in silence!!:))))) 603 is performing great, there is an airshow at its home base in early March, hopefully we can get its FAH numbers on before then, cheers, Pete :drink3:
