Re: My New Book: Hidden Warbirds

I just had my copy arrived here in NZ this week and so just wanted to say that the physical quality of the book impressed me greatly.

I have yet to read it but if looks are anything to go by it is a lot better than a number of others I'd previously bought sight unseen off Amazon and other websllers..

Seeing the topics and suggestions for topics for Vol 2 are coming forward I'd suggest that my old friend Charles Darby's works with Neville Mines and Monty Armstrong in the recoveries of the Beauforts, P39s, and P47s would be a worthy one. Also the B24 Liberator guys from Werribbee Australia have a good story to tell.

However well done with Vol 1.

Sounds a great book Nick, look forward to reading it.

However, I echo Mikes thoughts, all be it without have seen this issue, that a further volume, covering some of the recoveries mentions on here would be welcome too !

I flipped through it when I noticed it and all I can say is wow. Seemed like a great read but the photos are even better! Putting a p-51 in a old utility trailer, got to love people's passion to do anything it takes to preserve history!

I just finished the chapter dealing with the Mauraders that were recovered from the "million dollar valley". Very interesting.

Epilogue: What does the Future Hold?

The publisher wanted the first book to have aircraft that were widely known and would set the stage for the second book. As with the first book, I received a lot of generous help from everyone in the community, and I'd like to express my thanks to everyone who supported these projects. There's some really great photography in the book, too.

I'm always looking for ideas for a future volume, so please PM me with your thoughts.

Know that your purchase of Hidden Warbirds 2 will support WIX if you use the link to Amazon.com on the banner at the top of the page, or you can support some of the restoration projects by buying the book through them (I know the Sandbar Mitchell will have copies available). Keep in mind that you may pay a bit more for the books if you buy them from the restorers, but those few extra dollars spent help generate income for the rebuild projects.

Thank you and enjoy!
Nick
